Miko Granada and Bobe Salahog will lead a 10-man Philippine team that leaves on Sunday for Jakarta, Indonesia to compete in the 2023 Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championships at the Damai Indah Golf Club starting on Tuesday.
Granada, a 15-year-old based in Chinese-Taipei, and Salahog are two of the country’s most promising juniors.
In the team events, Granada will pair off with Armand Copok in the boys’ division while Alethea Gaccion joins hands with Isabella Tabanas in the girls’ bracket.
The other Filipino juniors taking part are Cliff Nuneza and John Canlas in the boys’ Class A, Isabella Tabanas in girls’ Class B, Ralph Rian Batican in the boys’ Class C, Rafella Batican in the girls’ Class C, and Franco Qui in the boys’ Class C.
Artemio Murakami is the team’s coach.
Limited to 144 players, the tournament offers an exemption to the Ciputra Golfpreneur Asian Development Tour on 23 to 26 August at the BSD course in Jakarta.
It also serves as a qualifying tournament for the FCG Callaway World Junior Golf Championships set 17 to 23 July in Palm Desert, California.
A practice round is set on Monday followed by the opening ceremony and welcome dinner.
The three-day event starts on Tuesday.
