Filipino champion Melvin Jerusalem and Puerto Rican mandatory challenger Oscar Collazo easily made the weight yesterday for their World Boxing Organization minimumweight title on Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) in Indio, California.
Jerusalem, making his United States debut, came in at 104.6 lbs while Collazo tipped in at the division limit of 105 as they both expressed readiness for their scheduled 12-rounder at the Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino.
First to step on the scales was the undefeated Collazo, who yelled twice when the announcer cleared him to fight.
Jerusalem didn’t allow himself to be outdone by Collazo as he flexed his muscles like Manny Pacquiao after being cleared as well.
The WBO appointed Ray Corona from California as the referee while the three judges are Eddie Hernandez and Louis Moret, both from California, and Patricia Morse Jarman from Nevada.
Genaro Rodriguez, also from California, is the fight supervisor.
