In two seasons playing in the Philippine Basketball Association, Ben Adamos, a 6-foot-7 first round draftee, has yet to live up to his true potential.
Selected sixth overall by Alaska, the stretch big out of Perpetual Help was barely given opportunities that impeded his growth of becoming a rising star.
But Frankie Lim, Adamos’ long-time coach with the Altas in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, is more than willing to give him that chance of a lifetime.
“I think Ben has high potential. It just so happened that he was hardly utilized in the first two years that he’s here in the PBA. All he needs is enough minutes to showcase his talent and with NLEX, we’re more than willing to give him that opportunity,” said Lim.
NLEX will be Adamos’ fourth team in two years after stops with Alaska, Converge and Phoenix Super LPG.
Adamos will play his first game as a Road Warrior on Saturday when his new squad battles Magnolia in Baliwag, Bulacan.
“The preseason will give him more opportunities to become a better player. He’s got the size and he’s got the range. I’m sure he can be a good addition to our team,” said Adamos.
The entry of Adamos, who was acquired by the Road Warriors in exchange for Tzaddy Rangel and Reden Celda, will allow him to fill in the spot previously occupied by JR Quinahan, who also played as a stretch big for the team then coached by Yeng Guiao.
Quinahan was already released by NLEX after playing in a league outside of the PBA, forcing Road Warriors management to terminate his contract.
