Bernadeth Pons returns to indoor volleyball as she joins powerhouse Creamline for the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.
Head coach Sherwin Meneses confirmed on Friday that Pons will reinforce the Cool Smashers in their title-retention bid as the Far Eastern University product is set to make her professional indoor volleyball debut in the mid-season tournament slated to begin on 29 June.
Veteran opposite spiker Michele Gumabao posted an Instagram story on Friday noon of Creamline welcoming its newest recruit.
The winger last saw action for Petron back in 2019 in the defunct Philippine Superliga before focusing on beach volleyball where she found success playing for the national team.
Her tandem with Sisi Rondina produced back-to-back bronze medal finishes in the 2019i Manila and 2021 Hanoi Southeast Asian Games.
Pons also has an impressive resume in indoor volleyball.
The 26-year-old spiker led the Lady Tamaraws to runner-up finish in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 80 back in 2018 while helping the Blaze Spikers capture three PSL crowns.
Pons’ arrival will add more depth and firepower to the Cool Smashers’ wing already bursting with talents.
She will be the latest weapon in the arsenal joining Alyssa Valdez, Jema Galanza, Tots Carlos and Gumabao in the rotation. Creamline will also benefit from Pons’ solid floor defense.
Meneses said that Pons has easily adjusted to the Cool Smashers’ system and showed a smooth transition from the sands back to the taraflex floor.
Pons has been training with the Cool Smashers for over a week.
