World Environment Day, celebrated last 5 June, took a memorable turn as two distinguished entities, Jetour Auto Philippines and Maybank Philippines, came together to advocate for a sustainable future through the promotion of electric vehicles.
This event, held at the Synergy Center of the Maybank Corporate Center in the heart of Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, was more than a mere gathering. It marked the beginning of an impactful partnership aimed at integrating EVs into the lifestyle of Filipinos.
Undeniably, the onset of EVs represents the next step in the evolution of motoring. Yet, the adoption of more environmentally friendly transport can be hampered by the steep initial investment. The novel partnership between Jetour and Maybank, however, takes a stride toward breaking this barrier.
Maybank is set to facilitate affordable EV ownership with an attractive financial offering: A low down payment of 15 percent and monthly installments starting from as low as P7,339.
Speaking at the event, Maybank Philippines president and CEO, Abigail Tina del Rosario, emphasized the alignment of this partnership with their strategic goals. “We have always looked for partnerships that are aligned with our strategic thrusts and will be able to support our sustainability commitments to our customers and the community in general,” she said.
The collaboration with Jetour, she believes, paves the way for significant contributions to environmental preservation by reducing carbon emissions and enabling their customers to embark on a decarbonization journey.
Del Rosario further underscored her hopes that the initiative will serve to mitigate the impact of climate change, a concern shared globally.
In a similar vein, Miguelito Jose, managing director of Jetour Auto Philippines, spoke of the transition from internal combustion engine vehicles to hybrids and, ultimately, to fully electric vehicles. In Maybank, Jetour has found a partner that shares the same purpose and direction. “By providing accessible financing options for the Jetour ICE CREAM EV, we can make it effortless for new car owners to embrace electric mobility,” stated Jose.
