Filipino-American gymnast Aleah Finnegan picked up a bronze medal in the women’s vault in the 10th Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships at the OCBC Center in Singapore Saturday evening.
Finnegan scored an average of 13.483 points as she pocketed her first medal in the Asian Championships.
South Korea’s Yeo Seojeong struck gold with 14.317 average points, while Uzbekistan’s Oksana Chusovitana settled for silver with 13.517 average points.
On Sunday, Finnegan vies for the final of the floor exercise with teammate Emma Malabuyo as well as the balance beam.
In the men’s category, Carlos Yulo took home the gold medal for the floor exercise.
He almost snagged another medal in the rings but missed the podium as he only scored 14.033 points for fourth place in the final.
China’s Lan Xingyu won the event with 15.200 points, while Nguyen Vha Khanh Phong of Vietnam came in at second place with 14.366 points.
Ng Kiu Chung of Hong Kong took the bronze medal with 14.100 points.
Yulo is scheduled to play in the final of the vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.
