Former world champion Jerwin Ancajas attempts to get back on track when he resurfaces as a bantamweight against Colombian Wilner Soto on 24 June at The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Coming off back-to-back defeats to Argentine Ferando Martinez, Ancajas is hoping to rediscover his winning ways in his 118-lb debut.
To get ready for the jump in weight, Ancajas had to work with renowned strength and conditioning coach Memeo Heredia in Las Vegas.
Before losing to Martinez, the Filipino southpaw reigned as International Boxing Federation super-flyweight king from September 2016 until February 2022, posting nine defenses.
Ancajas then got upset by Martinez and was denied of scoring a payback eight months later when the South American coasted to another unanimous decision win.
The Ancajas-Soto showdown will take place underneath the headlining IBF title clash starring Martinez and Filipino challenger Jade Bornea.
Currently, the Philippines only has one world champion in two-belt super-bantamweight titleholder Marlon Tapales.
