Kai Sotto’s dream of making it into the National Basketball Association just took a step closer as he will play for the Orlando Magic in the NBA Summer League
The 7-foot-center will have a chance to impress scouts as reports said he will be getting to face this year’s rookies led by this year’s first overall pick Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs.
Sotto had workout camps with the Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks, and the New York Knicks but didn’t visit Orlando this year.
However, he was able to work out with the Magic last year in the build-up for the 2022 NBA Draft where he went unnoticed.
He will be teaming up with Anthony Black and Jett Howard, the No. 6 and No. 11 overall picks respectively as well as veterans Markelle Fultz, Wendell Carter, Goga Bitadze, Moritz Wagner, and Bol Bol, son of NBA legend Manute Bol.
Sotto will be the second Filipino basketball player to get a call-up for the Summer League after Ray Parks played for Dallas in 2015.
Any team in the NBA could give Sotto a hefty contract if he makes enough heads turn in the Summer League.
