Jaja Santiago returns to the Japan V.League, this time suiting up for JT Marvelous for the 2023-2024 season.
The team made the announcement on social media last Wednesday as the three-time V.League champion showed its excitement about acquiring Santiago.
Last season, Marvelous finished in fifth place behind a 23-10 win-loss record.
“With the addition of a new force, the JT Marvelous will improve his team strength and advance as a team to win the entire tournament title,” the team said.
“We really appreciate your support!!”
Santiago is no stranger to Japanese volleyball as she played for the Saitama Ageo Medics from 2018 to 2023.
The former National University star was also the first Filipino volleyball player to win a professional volleyball title overseas when Ageo Medics took home the Japan V. Cup in 2021.
Santiago, 27, took home the Best Middle Blocker honors last season after leading Saitama to the semifinals.
Santiago is eager to be at her best to help the team win a title as a new challenge awaits her back in Japan.
“As a new member of JT Marvelous, I am sure this season will be an exciting and challenging year. I would be happy if you could continue to cheer and support me everywhere I go,” Santiago said in a statement.
“This season, I will do my best to work hard together with my new teammates and show the best performance I can. Please continue to support me and my team! Thank you!”
Chery Tiggo still has Santiago listed on their team but no announcement yet on the Crossovers’ side as of press time.
