Longtime assistant coach Eddieson Orcullo has been elevated to the role of head coach of the Far Eastern University men’s volleyball team vying in Season 86 of the Universities Athletic Association of the Philippines.
The Tamaraws made the announcement on social media last Saturday after former head coach Rei Diaz stepped down to pursue a corporate job in Bataan.
FEU finished in third place in Season 85 under Diaz before getting swept by the University of Santo Tomas, 25–18, 25–22, 25–21, in the stepladder semifinal.
From 2019 to 2023, FEU was a Final Four contender and in Season 81, the Morayta-based squad placed second overall behind National University.
“We thank Coach Rei for his many years of service to our volleyball program including the last seven years as head coach of the Tamaraws,” the team said.
“Let’s give Coach Ed and the team our whole-hearted support as we prepare for UAAP Season 86.”
Apart from his job as Diaz’s trusted lieutenant, Orcullo also called the shots for Sta. Lucia Realty in the Premier Volleyball League in 2021.
