Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. is set to launch an innovative program designed to provide educational opportunities for underprivileged youth who possess a keen interest in automotive and mobility.
This venture, which has been named “Hyundai Accelerate,” officially began following an agreement signing ceremony that took place on 27 June.
Hyundai’s noble effort aims to foster development and enrich lives through education. This initiative is in partnership with esteemed institutions: The Don Bosco Institute of Makati and the Department of Education Taguig City and Pateros school division.
Dongwook Lee, the President of HMPH, affirmed Hyundai’s commitment to giving back to society, stating, “This is rooted in our brand vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ wherein we believe that mobility is more than going from one place to another, rather connecting people with quality time and enabling them to get more out of life.”
Hyundai Accelerate, according to Lee, is more than a scholarship program, it’s a project aimed at transforming lives by enabling learning and opening up opportunities for its future beneficiaries.
Established in 1954, the Don Bosco Institute of Makati is a prestigious all-boys school renowned for its diversified curriculum that ranges from elementary to senior high school education, along with technical-vocational education and training.
The TVET curriculum specializes in courses aimed at preparing graduates for careers in the automobile industry among other trades. This eminent institution will serve as the platform for Hyundai Accelerate’s inaugural group of students.
This year, Hyundai Accelerate will welcome 40 talented individuals from the National Capital Region under the automotive curriculum of the Don Bosco Institute of Makati. The first 10 candidates will be nominated by DepEd TAPAT, while the remaining slots will be distributed among aspiring students recommended by the local governments of Pasig and Quezon cities.
The goal of Hyundai Accelerate is to pave the way for Filipino youth to access quality technical education and transform them into well-rounded professionals. Additionally, this initiative aligns with Hyundai’s commitment to enhancing its role as an aftersales service provider.
The scholars will partake in an intensive program that merges eight months of theoretical lessons with practical hands-on experience, which will be followed by a four-month on-the-job training at their nearest Hyundai service center.
The program also includes systematic quarterly and mid-term evaluations to gauge the students’ skill and dedication levels, with the potential for subsequent employment with HMPH’s dealer partners.
Hyundai Accelerate marks a pivotal step towards realizing Hyundai’s mission to uplift communities through educational programs.
By investing in the next generation of automotive experts and facilitating their learning journey, Hyundai reaffirms its commitment to not only “Progress for Humanity” but also to the future of the automotive industry in the Philippines.
