ECHO gold laner Frederic Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales added yet another feather in his hat when he emerged as Mobile Player of the Year during the Mobile Gaming Awards 2023 in Los Angeles.

The 21-year-old professional player from Cavite served as a key figure in ECHO’s title run in the Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines Season 11 and M4 Mobile Legends World Championship last January where he also emerged as Most Valuable Player of the finals.

He said the recognition given by Mobies, a  mobile Esports award-giving body, will definitely motivate him to work harder.

In winning the prestigious award, Bennyqt bested PUBG players Harsh “Goblin” Paudwal and Burenbayar “TOP” Altangerel, Clash Royale player Mohamed “Mohamed Light” Tarek, Thai Free Fire player Ratchanon “Moshi” Kunrayason and Jeong “TENSAI” Seung-jin.

“I am honored to be recognized as the Best Mobile Player of the Year. My journey was not easy but having all the support made it all worth it,” Bennyqt said.

“I have come so far but I still have so much to achieve. I hope you can continue supporting me. I dedicate this recognition to my family, friends, teammates, and all of my fans.”

ECHO also took home the Mobile Team of the Year, conquering EVOS Phoenix, Stalwart Esports, Tribe Gaming, and Zeta Division Zero and Estar Pro.

Also getting recognized was M4, which was awarded as the Mobile Esports Tournament of the Year.

The biggest and most successful M-Series tournament to date, M4, pitted 16 teams from all over the world competing for the lion’s share of $800,000 prize pool — or around P43.47 million.

Moonton Games, the developer of Mobile Legends, said they are grateful to the people who made M4 that was held in Jakarta and ruled by Filipino squads ECHO and Blacklist International a success.

“There were a lot of sweet memories, there’s quite a lot of, I would say, pain as well and, at the same time, good ones being made in terms of making this world championship series happen in Jakarta,” Moonton Games head of Public Relations Kelly Chew.

“It was really quite an experience for everyone and I just really, really want to take the chance to thank my staff, my wonderful team, as well, especially the marketing, production and logistics teams that worked so hard for this moment that helped us achieve another world-breaking PCU as well in terms of viewership.”

She added that they will work hard to further improve the gaming experience of Mobile Legends players.

“It’s just amazing and really, thank you so much to our fans, our players, our gamers, because at the end of the day, you guys are what really matters. Thank you very much for the support.”

The Mobile Gaming Awards was created by the same team behind the yearly Esports Awards.

Finalists are selected through a panel, which has set criteria for each category, followed by a voting period, and a results verification process. Community votes are counted for 25 percent of the points, while the panel votes account for 75 percent.
