Multi-titled coach Yeng Guiao and his long-time deputy Caloy Garcia will not be around when Rain or Shine battles NorthPort on Wednesday in the Philippine Basketball Association On Tour preseason tournament at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.
That’s because both Guiao and Garcia are currently overseas.
Guiao, the fiery, seven-time champion coach is currently on a vacation with his family in Bali, Indonesia while Garcia is with the La Salle team that is in the midst of its build up for the coming Universities Athletic Association of the Philippines and joined the Green Archers in a training camp in Japan.
The Elasto Painters and the Batang Pier collide at 5 p.m. in the first game of the scheduled double header. TNT and Phoenix Su[er LPG clash in the main game at 7:30 p.m.
Without the team’s think tank, Mike Buendia, who also served as an assistant coach for the team for the past few years, will take over the coaching chores.
The Elasto Painters are currently among the top teams in the ongoing preseason tournament, winning six of their first eight games.
Their solid campaign caught the attention of the PBA Board of Governors, who decided to delegate the team and represent the league in the coming William Jones Cup tournament.
