Janry Ubas pocketed won a gold medal in the men’s long jump after leaping 7.86 meters at the Motonet Grand Prix in Lappeenranta, Finland Thursday morning (Manila time).
Ubas dominated the 10-man field while trying to qualify for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest from 19 to 27 August.
Hometown bet Kasperi Vehmaa came in second with 7.75m while Zane Branco of Australia settled for the bronze medal with 7.70m.
Finnish long jumper Kristian Pulli ended up fourth place at 7.66m while compatriot Otto Pulkkinen rounded off the top five with 7.39m.
Ubas was ripe to win a gold medal, especially after winning his first ever gold in the recent Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia after a series of heartbreaking setbacks.
This time, the 29-year-old pride of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental has captured his second straight gold medal in less than three months.
