A megabuck matchup taking place in early December in Tokyo awaits two-belt world champion Marlon Tapales if Naoya Inoue gets past Stephen Fulton this Tuesday in their highly-anticipated clash.
Sean Gibbons of MP Promotions, who represent Tapales, is already in Japan and he will be at ringside when Inoue attempts to snatch Fulton’s World Boxing Council and World Boxing Organization super-bantamweight belts.
Also, Tapales and his Filipino promoter JC Mananquil will be there as well so they could immediately set the stage for an Inoue showdown once the Japanese pride becomes a two-belt holder.
Tapales holds the World Boxing Association and International Boxing Federation crowns and he took them when he upset Uzbekistan’s Murodjon Akhmadaliev last April in San Antonio, Texas.
The country’s only reigning world champion, Tapales will set up camp in the United States once the Inoue clash is set in stone.
Nicknamed “Monster,” Inoue is one of the best in the world regardless of weight.
