Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Teia Salvino and four other Filipino swimmers punched tickets to the 9th World Aquatics Junior Championships from 4 to 9 September in Netanya, Israel.
The 15-year-old Salvino will compete in the women’s 50-meter and 100-meter backstroke, 50-meter, 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle, and 100-meter butterfly events.
Salvino, however, remains doubtful to join the world meet as she is deep in training for the 19th Asian Games set in Hangzhou from 28 September to 8 October.
Aside from Salvino, other Filipino swimmers who achieved the minimum of 680 World Aquatics points during the qualification period from 1 May to 30 July were Jasmine Mojdeh in women’s 100-meter butterfly, Heather White in women’s 50-meter, 100-meter and 200-meter freestyle, Gian Santos in men’s 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter freestyle and Alexander Eichler in men’s 100-meter and 200-meter butterfly.
