The Filipino tandem of coach Paul Denver “Yeb” Miranda and superstar jungler Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol led ONIC Esports to yet another championship following a 4-0 beatdown of Bigetron Alpha in the grand finals of Snapdragon Pro Series Season 3 last week in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Together with Muhammad “Butsss” Sanubari, “SANZ” Gilang, Calvin “CW” Winata, and Nicky “Kiboy” Pontonuwu, the four-time Mobile Legends Professional League Indonesia champion, ONIC Esports ended the Group Stage on top with a 4-1 record and 13 points together with Filipino squad AP Bren.
ONIC Esports’ dominance, thanks to the heroics of Kairi and the strategic brilliance of Yeb, gave it a slot in the upper bracket Playoffs, where it defeated Mobile Legends Professional League Philippines Season 9 champion RSG Philippines, 2-0.
AP Bren, meanwhile, defeated another Filipino team in ECHO to book an upper bracket finals showdown with ONIC Esports.
Although AP Bren had put up a fight, ONIC Esports still emerged victorious in the best-of-five series with a hard-fought 3-2 score.
There was no stopping ONIC Esports once it had its feet planted in the grand finals as it beat its fellow Indonesian squad Bigetron Alpha, 4-0, to win the grand prize of $65,000.
“I want to thank everyone, the ONIC Esports management, the fans, family, and friends for supporting us,” Yeb said.
Filipino teams AP Bren, ECHO, and RSG Philippines did not go home empty-handed either as they took $17,000, $10,000 and $5,500, respectively.
