Alex Eala barged into the final of the W25 Roehampton women’s singles tournaments after a hard-fought 7-6, 6-2, 6-1 upset over third seed Arianne Hartono of The Netherlands in their semifinal match at the National Tennis Centre in London last Saturday (Manila time).
It took two hours and 32 minutes for the graduate of the Rafael Nadal Academy to pull off the win.
Eala is looking to add this trophy to her collection as she also gears up for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from 23 September to 8 October.
“So excited to be in my second final of the year and first ever final here in London,” Eala said in a social media post.
Eala is currently playing against second seed Arianne Rodionova of Australia for the W25 trophy as of press time.
This could be Eala’s best year in her professional career as she could win two singles titles in one year.
Her latest title was the W25 Yecla in Spain last June after a 6-3, 7-5 win over Switzerland’s Valentina Ryser in the final.
