Cris Bautista, who has handled various semi-pro, collegiate and open division leagues like VisMin Super Cup and Ballout, has been appointed as new president of the growing Pilipinas Super League.
Bautista has been credited in reviving the VisMin Cup last year on the heels of the controversy that happened in the organization three years ago, and under his stewardship, he was able to restore credibility in this regional league for teams in the Visayas and Mindanao.
But he was also responsible in the growth of Ballout where he served as chief executive officer and brought along with him multi-titled coach Joe Lipa as commissioner and former Philippine Basketball Association player Ronald Magtulis as head of basketball operations.
This time, Bautista, a former basketball program head of Jubilee Christian Academy, who also coached teams like the Ateneo women’s team in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines and La Salle Greenhills in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, is taking on a new challenge in the growing basketball league that is the PSL.
In a statement released by PSL management, the group welcomed the addition of Bautista.
“We’re thrilled to announce that Coach Cris has taken the helm as the visionary leader of our beloved league,” wrote PSL management. “With his extensive experience, passion for the game, and dedication to uplifting the basketball community, we’re entering a new era of greatness.”
“Join us in welcoming Cris to our family. Let’s look forward to a future filled with thrilling games, incredible sportsmanship, and a shared commitment to taking PSL to new heights.”
