Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson is set to play for Gilas Pilipinas in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup with a pair of ANTA shoes.
The Chinese sports brand announced that the Filipino-American guard will be using its gear as Clarkson leads Gilas in the World Cup starting on 25 August against the Dominican Republic at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
ANTA Group Philippines General Manager JP Paglinawan is thrilled to have Clarkson on board with the brand.
“The FIBA World Cup is arguably one of the top basketball tournaments in the world. To have one of the top players in the world showcase ANTA at the highest level of competition reinforces our confidence that our brand produces the best basketball product in the market right now,”
Paglinawan said in a statement.
Clarkson joins a handful of Gilas players such as Kieffer Ravena (Jordan Brand), Kai Sotto (PUMA), and Scottie Thompson (World Balance) to be endorsed by sports brands outside of Gilas Pilipinas’ main outfitter Nike.
The 2021 NBA Sixth Man of the Year awardee recently scored 27 points in Gilas’ 87-102 loss to Montenegro last Sunday in a closed-door tune-up match at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Gilas Pilipinas will wrap up its tune-up matches with a game against Mexico today, 21 August, at the same venue.
