Gerflor is bringing in multi-titled mentor Sammy Acaylar to handle the coaching reins for the coming third conference of the Premier Volleyball League in October.
Acaylar replaced Edgar Barroga, who handled the expansion squad in its debut in the Invitational Conference.
The former men’s national team head coach is making his return to the women’s club scene since handling Sta. Lucia Realty in the defunct Philippine Superliga back in 2018.
Acaylar immediately buckled down to work to bring change to the club that went winless in five outings for a 12th place finish in its first foray in the 13-squad
mid-season tournament.
“I’ve seen the games of Gerflor and I think it’s a matter of filling in the right materials for the team,” Acaylar said.
The long-time University of Perpetual Help System DALTA mentor, who gave the school numerous National Collegiate Athletic Conference titles, said that they will conduct a tryout to beef up their roster.
“We’ll have a tryout this week. Hopefully, we’ll get good players that will give our club a good result in the coming PVL,” Acaylar said.
“What I can promise is that I’ll give my heart and everything to help Gerflor get better step-by-step.”
Gerflor along with Farm Fresh and Foton joined PVL during the Invitational Conference while Nxled will make its debut in the second edition of the All-Filipino Conference two months from now.
