Foton has withdrawn its participation in the Premier Volleyball League after just one conference.
The Tornadoes have released some of their players after their contracts expired while others have been recalled to the franchise’s main club, Chery Tiggo.
Shaya Adorador, Jasmine Nabor and Seth Rodriguez are expected to return to the Crossovers’ roster.
“Foton is pulling out. They said they put up the team because they have too many players. But since their contracts are expiring, they decided not to renew them,” PVL president Ricky Palou said.
With this development, Foton will be scratched off the season-ending All-Filipino Conference leaving the field back to 11 clubs following the entry of new team Nxled.
The Tornadoes, who won multiple titles in the defunct Philippine Superliga, were revived by the franchise for the mid-season Invitational Conference.
Foton, however, performed below expectations as it had only two wins in six matches for 11th place in the 13-club competition.
Shaya Adorador, Jasmine Nabor, Seth Rodriguez and Jaila Atienza rejoined Chery Tiggo while Blove Barbon signed with Petro Gazz.
Offers have also been handed to other former Tornadoes by other clubs looking to beef up their rosters for the PVL third conference slated next month.
