Clark International Speedway was a hotbed of performance motorports last 9 September as Toyota Motor Philippines launched the second leg of its acclaimed Toyota GAZOO Racing Vios Cup.
As one of the country’s premier one-make-race series, the TGR Vios Cup garnered attention from racing enthusiasts both on-site and virtually.
From the Circuit Championship to the Autocross Challenge, fans tuned in and took to the stands to support their favored racers.
Familiar faces from the first leg, such as Troy Montero, Enzo Pineda, Carla Lizardo, Megan Young, Benedict Cua, Bianca Yao and Lexi Mendiola, were ready to assert their racing prowess.
In the Promotional class, Jarond Mesina from Toyota Team Cebu took the top spot. He was trailed by Alain Alzona of Toyota General Santos — Chooks to Go Racing Team and Bong Garbes of Inbox — Toyota San Fernando.
Jiro Garbes from Inbox — Toyota San Fernando led the Sporting class, followed by Russel Cabrera from Toyota Team Cebu and Maila Alivia of JBT Racing Team/Toyota Isabela.
The Super Sporting class witnessed Joaquin Garrido from Obengers Racing Team claim victory, with Bryan Co of R Racing Team and Red Diwa of JBT Racing Team/Toyota Isabela completing the podium.
The Autocross Challenge, meanwhile, saw female dominance in the Promotional Media Class.
Lyka Tan from Carmudi secured the win, with Pattice Tenorio of Zigwheels and Mica delos Reyes of Philippine Star clinching second and third, respectively.
Wowie Go from C! Magazine triumphed in the Sporting Media Class, trailed by Ronald delos Reyes of Philippine Daily Inquirer and John Rey San Diego from Autocar Philippines.
Ezra Domingo, a newcomer, stole the show in the Sporting Influencer Class, followed by Bianca Yao and Genesis Redido. Reph Bangsil, after a hiatus from the Vios Cup, returned to claim first place in the Sporting Class. Migy Romulo and Lexi Mendiola rounded out the top three.
Special mention goes to seasoned racers Milo Rivera and Jose Altoveros, alongside TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippines Ambassador Marlon Stockinger, who participated in an Autocross Challenge. The trio raced in the Corolla Altis GR-S HEV, with Milo Rivera emerging as the champion.
