HANGZHOU, China – After producing the country’s first medal, taekwondo suffered big losses for the third straight day in the 19th Asian Games here.

Arven Alcantara advanced to the quarters after beating a fancied Thai rival in the Round-of-16 of the men’s -68-kilogram division.

But against, Mohammed Mustafa of Jordan, Alcantara suffered a 2-0 beating.

Both Laila Delo and Dave Cea also dropped their matches with the latter losing to Iran’s Mehran Barkhordari in the men’s -80kg division quaters.

Delo, on the other hand, lost to Vietnam’s Thi Khiem in the women’s -67kg class.

Korean Open gold medal winner Kirstie Elaine Alora (women’s +67kg class) and SEAG 4-time champion Samuel

Morrission are left to carry the task to win the country’s first gold in the continental showpiece.

King Patrick Perez won the men’s individual bronze on Sunday.
