Gilas belles overpower HK, 99-63

Gilas Pilipinas women’s team continued to assert its dominance as a first-time participant in the Asian Games women’s basketball and on Friday, the Filipinas drubbed Hong Kong, 99-63.

Janine Pontejos let her cannons loose for the second straight game as she presided on her team’s offense.

She led the way with 23 points while fellow mainstay Afril Bernardino tallied 20 as the Filipinas improved their win-loss record to 2-0.

Three other players ended up in double figures — Khate Castillo (17), Louna Ozar (11), and Jack Animam (10).
