Senator Christopher “Bong” Go urged the nation to throw its support to the Filipino athletes competing in the ongoing 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Go, who leads the Senate Committee on Sports, praised and expressed gratitude to the Pinoy bets giving their all to bring glory and honor to the country in the prestigious continental sports meet.
“Let us support our kababayans competing in the 19th Asian Games sa Hangzhou City, China,” Go said.
“As chair of the Senate Committee on Sports, I want to extend heartfelt praises and would like to thank all our athletes who are giving their all to represent the Philippines. Win or lose, what is important is that we are one in cheering and supporting our Filipino athletes!”
The Philippines has already collected a total of one gold, one silver and seven bronze medals after two weeks of action.
Flagbearer and Paris Olympic-bound EJ Obiena delivered the country’s first gold after ruling the men’s pole vault.
More medals, including a couple of additional mints, are expected to trickle into the Philippine coffer from different fronts as the Asiad heads to its final week.
“Our unity is the best form of moral support to inspire our competing athletes to give their best,” Go said.
“Let us all rally behind them as they continue to bring glory to our country. Laban Pilipinas! Let us show the world the fighting heart of a Filipino.”
