Filipinas midfielder Tahnai Annis was awarded by her club Thor/Ka as the Player of the Players 2023 during the club’s end-of-season awards last Monday.
Annis played 24 games for the Icelandic club and scored five goals as she and Thor/KA finished fifth in the Besta deild kvenna with a 10-3-10 win-draw-loss record.
“The one who is loyal to the project follows through and you can always rely on. The player you probably remember first when you reminisce about training sessions and games during the season. Such were the assumptions,” the club described Annis on its website.
“Tahnai played a total of 24 games for Þór/KA during the year, 18 in the Besta league, one in Mjólkurbikar and five in Lengjubikar. She scored five goals in these games, including two in the Besta deild kvenna.”
Iceland’s Sandra María Jessen, Annis’ teammate was awarded the Player of the Year in the club while another Icelander in Amalía Árnadóttir got the Most Promising Player of 2023 honors.
Annis, 34, was one of the veterans of the Filipinas during their historic campaign in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign last July highlighted by a 1-0 win over host New Zealand.
In her career for the Thor/KA, she had a total of 63 appearances with 19 goals to her name.
On Annis’ international stint, she appeared for 38 matches for the Filipinas and scored 14 goals for the national team.
