Choco Mucho made short work of Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-18, 25-13, 25-17, for its first win in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference Thursday night at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
The Flying Titans only uncorked an amazing 12-0 closing run in the opening set to erase a five-point deficit and frustrate the Foxies, who never recovered after that.
Sisi Rondina was again in her usual explosive self, tallying 21 points from 17 spikes, three kill blocks and an ace as Choco Mucho recovered from a four-set loss to sister team defending champion Creamline last Sunday.
The University of Santo Tomas standout added six excellent receptions while Des Cheng had 10 markers, seven digs and five excellent receptions for the Flying Titans, who started slow before dominating winless Farm Fresh.
“We’re thankful we got the win despite a slow start. Good thing we recovered in the first set on our way to getting our first win,” Choco Mucho coach Dante Alinsunurin said.
“I’m thankful also to my players for their effort to execute what we trained for.”
The Flying Titans saw themselves struggling in the first as they went down, 13-18, before scoring 12 unanswered points that took Farm Fresh out of its system.
It was all Choco Mucho in the next two sets as the Foxies fell to 0-2 win-loss record tied with expansion team Galeries Tower.
Trisha Tubu was the only Farm Fresh player in double figures with 14 points as victory for the Jerry Yee-mentored squad remained elusive after seven outings since joining the league last Invitational Conference.
