Eumir Marcial should soon see himself hopping on a plane back to the United States.
“We are finalizing his travel documents,” reported Marcial’s chief handler Sean Gibbons from Las Vegas where the heavy-handed Filipino lefty will set up camp for his fifth professional bout in December or January.
Coming off a silver medal finish in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, Marcial went home to his native Zamboanga a few days and was given a ticker tape parade.
Marcial is going to use his pro experience to whip himself into fiery form for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The plan, according to Gibbons, is to give the Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist two fights before he flies to Paris.
Kay Koroma, who is Marcial’s new trainer, can’t wait to team up with Marcial anew.
Marcial was the lone medalist for the nine-man Philippine boxing squad that saw action in Hangzhou.
