The Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines threw its support to the 15-strong delegation to the Thailand Junior World Championships at the Royal Hua Hin golf course in Thailand kicking off on Thursday.

The country’s junior golf governing body, which endorsed nine of the athletes, announced that it will give away P50,000 worth of golf equipment and accessories to the champions.

Second and third placers will receive P30,000 and P20,000 worth of golf equipment, respectively.

“We are sending our country’s best. We are confident that they will give their best and make our country proud,” JGFP president Oliver Gan said.

Miko Granada and Alethea Gaccion will lead the contingent, competing in the Class A categories.

Granada will join Bobe Salahog and Jacob Cajita in boys’ side, while Gaccion will be with Reese Allison Ng and Lia Duque in girls’ division.

Also joining the team are Tashanah Balangauan and David James Teves in the Class B division. Siblings Mona, Lisa and Vito Sarines will join the fray in Class C, along with Ralph Rian Batican.

Race Phoenix Manhit, Rafella Batican and Mico Woo will campaign in Class D.

Salahog, Cajita, Gaccion, Ng, Teves, and Manhit were fielded by the National Golf Association of the Philippines.

Still, the JGFP, backed up by chairman Tommy Manotoc and godfather, Cong. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo, extends the offer to all members of Team Philippines.

“We are all for the development of golf in the country and we extend our hand in unity and cooperation with bodies whom we share the same goal,” Gan said.

Last year, Rianne Malixi and Edison Tabalin topped their respective divisions.
