Gilas Pilipinas team manager Alfrancis Chua vows to help out naturalized player Justin Brownlee as they wait on the sanctions the International Testing Agency will impose after Brownlee tested positive for Carboxy-THC in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Chua, who was at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan to receive his reward from the NCAA for being part of Gilas’ Asiad campaign, said Barangay Ginebra and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas will support Brownlee regardless of the verdict.

Brownlee could face up to two years of suspension for being positive for Carboxy,-THC, a drug linked with cannabis.

“Even if he gets suspended, it’s no problem for us. We don’t know what their decisions will be but we’ll be there for Brownlee,” Chua said.

“We won’t leave him. I think SBP won’t leave him if he gets suspended. We’re just waiting for them.”

Gilas Pilipinas members who are also NCAA alumni have been rewarded by the league for winning the country’s first Asian Games gold medal after 61 years.

Chua isn’t dismissing the possibility of backing up the Knights once again as they wallow at 10th place with a 1-10 record.

Under Chua, Letran won three straight championships and two of those trophies came in 2022.

“Who doesn’t want to support Letran? I am just busy and I don’t want to handle a team that I don’t have time with. We’ll see,” said Chua, a former Letran Squire.
