The Philippines leaned on the heroics of Junia Louise Gabasa to stay tied for 18th after two rounds in the World Amateur Team Championships late Thursday at the National Course of the Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
Gabasa scored 69 in the first round and 73 in the second to power the Philippines in the women’s competitions for the Espirito Santo Trophy.
Currently, Gabasa is tied for 11th in the individual leaderboard.
Gabasa and Rianne Malixi counted in the opening round, while Gabasa and Grace Pauline Quintanilla scored in the second as the country shared the spot with Hong Kong and Colombia at one-under 289.
Thailand, Australia and Spain are in a gridlock on top at 13-under 275.
Team captain Mikaela Romulo completes Team Philippines which was sent there by the National Golf Association of the Philippines.
South Korea is at solo fourth, while United States, England, Germany, India, Canada rounded up the upper rungs of the standings among the 36 countries vying in the four-day meet.
