There will be no pressure when Taylor James Miller suits up for Terrafirma in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup starting 5 November at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Miller, who was taken by the Dyip in the first round of the recent PBA Annual Rookie Draft, said he will play with no pressure as the spotlight will be trained on their top pick Stephen Holt.
Still, the 6-foot-2 Miller, a former Westminster University guard, is ready go hard to prove that deserves to see action in the oldest professional basketball league in Asia.
“It’s been awesome so far,” Miller said.
“I’m one of the few rookies coming in, we’re still adapting and learning from the veteran players, but so far, it’s been great and I’m looking forward to it.”
Miller added that deciding to play in the PBA wasn’t easy. In fact, he had to do some background check before he threw his name into the draft pool.
“I had a little idea — from the relatives and friends — and they’re telling me what’s like to be here,” Miller said.
“But I was shocked at how the game is being played here, how physical it is.”
Miller said he is happy to learn more about the Filipino brand of play and he couldn’t wait to lead the Dyip to their first ever title.
“I love it. It’s been helpful so far, because of the veteran players,” Miller said.
