A last-minute attempt to secure release from Converge and beat the 12 noon deadline on Saturday were successfully accomplished by TNT, which will now be able to parade Quincy MIller as its import in time for its season-opening game against Magnolia on Sunday, 5 November, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
TNT unable to get the letter of clearance from Miller’s former team, the FiberXers, a team he led to a quarterfinals entry in last season’s Commissioner’s Cup.
The letter of clearance along with the permit from the Games and Amusement Board are some of the requirements that need to be submitted to the PBA Commissioner’s Office.
Miller was previously measured and passed the 6-foot-9 height limit, another requirement imports need to undergo before being allowed to play.
But the Tropang Giga were able to obtain the document as per the PBA Commissioner’s Office and concurrent team manager and head coach Jojo Lastimosa, who was also ready for any eventuality should they fail to secure the letter of clearance.
“We were waiting for an answer from Converge, but if not, we will play all-Filipino,” wrote Lastimosa in a Viber message to DAILY TRIBUNE. “But Quincy was just released to us.”
