Juan Gomez de Liaño and the Seoul SK Knights get to test the debuting New Taipei Kings featuring Asian basketball phenom Jeremy Lin in the East Asia Super League 2023-2024 Season.
Lin is playing at the P. LEAGUE+ team alongside his brother, Joseph, in a tandem that is capturing the imaginations of basketball fans across Asia.
The Lin brothers and their New Taipei Kings teammates take the court this Wednesday against the Korean Basketball League side in a Group B encounter.
The game will be played on the Kings’ home court at Xinzhuang Gymnasium, tipping off at 7 p.m. local time.
Lin said winning the EASL is one of two major ambitions for the Kings this season, alongside the domestic P. LEAGUE+ championship.
“The goals of the new season are to win the P. LEAGUE+ and the East Asia Super League,” he said.
“EASL is a special opportunity to compete with different leagues, there are a lot of great players out there and we look forward to playing against them.”
The Knights, who feature Gomez de Liaño, will pose a stiff test for the Kings.
The Korean Basketball League powerhouse includes elite talent such as guard Kim Sun-Hyung, one of the leading lights of the Korean national team.
Lin said he was unfamiliar with Kim.
Kim, however, had an interesting answer to the former National Basketball Association campaigner.
“He will know who I am after this game,” he said.
