Pauline Del Rosario quickly made her presence felt in the LPGA of Taiwan’s Party Golfers Ladies Open Wednesday, firing a three-under 69 to grab a share of seventh place at the Lily Golf and Country Club.
The previous day, the 25-year-old Del Rosario captured the event’s pro-am appetizer.
Yet she’s all business in the first round, shooting down birdies on the seventh, ninth, 14th and 16th while producing just one bogey, the par-3 eighth.
She’s just three shots off clubhouse leader Jessica Peng of Taiwan who turned in a 66 for a one-stroke lead over compatriot Ching Huang. Ornnicha Konsunthea of Thailand fired a 67 for momentary solo third.
“I don’t really have expectations this week, it’s been more than three years since I’m back in Taiwan,” said Del Rosario who won the 2017 Royal Open at the Royal Kuan-Hsi Golf Club in her rookie year.
Daniella Uy and Florence Bisera, who like Del Rosario and 13 others represented Ladies Philippine Golf Tour, shot identical even par 72s to co-share 26th place in the NT$4-million championship.
Other Filipinos struggled like Harmie Constantino and Laurea Duque who are at T60 following identical 75, while Chanelle Avaricio is at T72 after a 76.
Mikha Fortuna is at T76 after a 77, Lia Duque T83 (78) and Marvi Monsalve T96 (81).
