Stallion Laguna FC takes its painful loss to Terengganu as a lesson that it will bring into its remaining assignments in the Asian Football Confederation Cup last Wednesday at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.

The host squad absorbed a 2-3 defeat at the hands of the visiting team that formally knocked the Stallion out of contention as it slid to a 0-1-3 win-draw-loss record in Group G.

Stallion head coach Ernest Nierras said his booters need to be more clinical in front of the goal and work on their confidence whenever they attack.

“We had them on the ropes for the majority of the match. We just have to improve in closing out games. We have to improve more and have more confidence in our ability to score,” Nierras said.

The Stallion had a good start after goals from Junior Sam and Finn McDaniel in the third and 14th minutes, respectively, to take a 2-0 lead.

But disaster struck when Matthew Nierras scored an own goal in the 33rd minute, which ignited the Malaysian side’s comeback.

Goals from Ivan Mamut in the 67th minute and Sony Norde in the 86th minute completed Terengganu’s come-from-behind win.

The Stallion has two more games left against Indonesia’s Bali United on 29 November at the Kapten I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Bali before going up against Australia’s Central Coast Mariners on 13 December in Biñan.
