Alpha Omega escaped past Davao Occidental-Cocolife while Novaliches walloped Disipl-ina-dos-Shawarma Shack in the PSL President’s Cup at the Paco Arena just recently.
Hot-shooting Drian Celada, Jon Gabriel and Charles Callano led a display of balance firepower for Alpha Omega, which fought back from 15 points down before completing a come-from-behind 88-87 win.
Celada pumped in 19 markers, including four triples while Gabriel, a former player from the Philippine Basketball Association, came away with 16 points and eight boards.
Callano set the tone from the backcourt as he added 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and a steal for Alpha Omega.
But it was Mark Doligon, a versatile guard, who scored the go-ahead basket with 1:01 left in regulation before the team came up with big stops in the next two offensive thrusts of the Tigers to preserve a comeback win.
Novaliches, on the other hand, defeated its rival in convincing fashion, 69-58, with Jomel Landayan and Deo Timajo combining for 26 points.
Mark Atabay was an unstoppable force inside the shaded lane as he completed a double-double performance of 10 points and 15 rebounds.
Novaliches and Alpha Omega joined opening day victor Manila in the early lead of this new season, which attracted 17 teams competing.
