After an aborted Japan stint, Robert Bolick is back and ready to make a comeback in the Philippine Basketball Association.
Bolick’s agent, Marvin Espiritu, said the 28-year-old former NorthPort star is already in Manila with his family after spending several months in Japan before getting released by the Fukushima Firebonds in the Division II of the Japan B. League.
Bolick signed a two-year contract with the Firebonds last May. But after seeing action against Passlab Yamagata Wyverns last 7 October, Bolick decided to pack his bags for Manila due to the pregnancy of his wife, Cassandra.
“He was able to rent an AirBNB unit in El Circulo near Eastwood,” Espiritu said, adding that the Bolick couple couldn’t occupy their house since it is already being rented out. Espiritu said with Bolick back in town, a return to the PBA, probably with the Batang Pier, is inevitable.
After all, Bolick and the Batang Pier are already negotiating about the possibility of fielding him in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup.
“It could happen anytime,” Espiritu said.
“But right now, these talks were purely exploratory. Nothing is definite at this time.”
The Batang Pier are off to a hot start as they posted back-to-back wins in their first two matches to share an early lead with Meralco.
Import Venkatesha Jois and Arvin Tolentino led the Batang Pier attack when they posted a 108-103 win over Terrafirma and a 113-103 triumph over Rain or Shine, respectively.
