Over the weekend, the Baguio Country Club paid homage to its first-ever Filipino president, the late Justice Roman Ozaeta, with a golf tournament that saw 160 members and guests seeing action.

Among those who graced the event were Ozaeta’s grandsons Mike and Greg Ozaeta as well as BCC chairman of golf and sports committee Jose Roman Ozaeta, BCC general manager Anthony de Leon, Engr. Ely Lagman, BCC golf and sports committee member George Chua.

The two-day event began with a tree-planting activity on 10 November, followed by the ceremonial tee-off and wine and cheese dinner.

Ozaeta assumed the presidency of the famed country club in 1957 and this year’s tournament was the second straight year it was staged.

The tournament used the Molave Point System and required players to use only seven clubs in their bag including putter.

Leading the roster of champions are Eddie Fianza who ruled the Men’s Members Class A, Christian Bautista (Class B) and Peter Rey Bautista (Class C).

Women’s Members Class A went to Nova Sy, while Beth Patterson captured Class B crown. Demma Dulnuan was Guest Ladies champion.

Goody Ignacio captured the Members Seniors Class A with Benito Ang claiming Class B honors.

Basketball legend Chito Loyzaga annexed the Guests Division Class A, while Ruben Garlejo and Freddie Lazona topped the Class B and C, respectively.

Enrico Garcia took the Nearest to the Pin honors with a drive that landed just six feet on Hole No. 1.
