People may find the All-New and 6th generation Honda CR-V quite expensive.
At P2.1 million for the front-wheel drive 1.5 V Turbo, P2.28 million for the mid-grade 1.5 VX Turbo AWD (all-wheel drive), and P2.59 million for the range-topping RS e:HEV (an electric hybrid), they sure are expensive.
But one should look beyond the price tag as the Japanese automaker’s popular crossover SUV now has a fresh new look with cutting-edge safety features, fuel-efficient powertrains, and offers a smoother ride for its passengers.
With the newly designed CR-V’s bigger dimensions which includes a more spacious passenger cabin, this vehicle will never fail to impress. Honda informed that the CR-V’s turbo-four engine was tweaked to be more responsive and efficient.
And compared to the previous generation, its continuously variable transmission and all-wheel-drive system have been improved.
Behind the All-New CR-V’s eye-catching grille is a 187-horsepower turbo gasoline engine that generates 240 Nm of torque. The RS e:HEV on the other hand, combines a 1.9-liter Atkinson engine (146 hp and 183 Nm of torque) with a dual electric motor that generates 182 hp and 335 Nm of torque.
The Honda Sensing installed in both the 1.5 V Turbo and 1.5 VX Turbo AWD include Adaptive Cruise Control, Low Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Auto High Beam and Lead Car Departure Notification.
The hybrid variant has all these safety techs, too, with an Adaptive Driving Beam feature that alters the beam pattern of its headlights to help reduce glare for oncoming drivers.
Honda Connect
The All-New CR-V also comes with the new Honda Connect, an app that enables owners to communicate with their vehicle, check its status, and even be notified of alerts via smartphone.
Among its notable features are the Security Alarm Detection which sends an alert to the owner’s smartphone when the vehicle alarm is triggered, and the Speed Alert that allows the owner to monitor the vehicle while it is being driven by someone else (e.g., a notification is sent to the CR-V owner if the person driving his or her vehicle has exceeded a certain speed limit).
Honda Connect also includes a Find My Car feature that can help owners whenever they encounter difficulty in locating their vehicle. By sending a pin location to the owner’s smartphone, a Geofencing Alert notifies owners if their vehicle was taken beyond a set area limit. The “Emergency Calls” meanwhile makes it easier to access emergency contacts through the app.
Other notable details of Honda Connect are its Car Status that alerts the owner of anything that requires attention and doubles as the vehicle’s diagnostic support system (remote checking of the fuel level, battery, lock and airbag status); Remote Vehicle Control that allows the owner to control various limited functions of the vehicle via the app including Remote Engine Start and Stop, Remote Air Conditioner Control, Remote Lock and Unlock and Remote Light Control.
It also comes with a Service Reminder which automatically prompts the owner when the vehicle’s periodic maintenance is due. It can also immediately schedule an appointment with Honda’s nearest official service center.
The Honda Connect in the All-New CR-V also has the ability to let owners share their memorable drives via social networking sites.
With the number of vehicle brands available, coming up with a decision on what compact SUV to buy is getting to be a complicated task. However, there are certain compact SUVs that people simply love — like the CR-V — because they offer excellent value for the amount a buyer spends.
That’s why Honda really stepped it up a notch with its All-New CR-V. With its improved look, new level of safety and convenience, impressive passenger and cargo space, refined and comfortable cabin, efficient turbocharged engine, not to mention exceptional fuel economy, the All-New CR-V is surely worth every car buyer’s peso.
