It didn’t take long for Marcio Lassiter to rediscover his old, deadly shooting form.
Barely utilized in San Miguel’s previous game, Lassiter exploded for 23 points, including a backbreaking trey down the stretch, to carry the Beermen to a tense 115-110 triumph over luckless Rain or Shine in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Lassiter hit six three-point shots, his last basket proved to be the dagger as it shattered the game’s final deadlock at 108-all with still 43 seconds left.
The dead shot swingman hit a trey plus a foul to boot from Jhonard Clarito, but couldn’t complete a rare four-point play.
But the Beermen made a big stop in the next play, forcing Clarito to turn the ball over when he elected to pass it to new import Demetrius Treadwell at the last minute as the ball went out of bounds.
Lassiter is coming off a foot injury and it sidelined him for a few weeks.
Still, he barely showed signs of rust in just his second game this season.
“I just kept getting my rhythm as the game goes on,” said Lassiter. “But I just have to continue to get stronger and better.”
