NLEX fired its import, Thomas Robinson following his verbal altercation with NorthPort team manager Pido Jarencio last Wednesday in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.
A reliable Daily Tribune source made the confirmation, saying that the Road Warriors already informed the former National Basketball Association lottery pick about their decision after he arrived from a family trip in Boracay and Palawan. He, however, refused to reveal the reason behind the sacking of one of the league’s best reinforcements.
“Yes,” the source said when Daily Tribune asked about Robinson’s firing.
“You should ask (team governor) Ronald (Dulatre) or (team manager) Larry (Fonacier). I think they will come up with an announcement. I don’t want to preempt it.”
Robison had been in the eye of the storm after getting into a spat with Jarencio in the aftermath of their 112-104 win.
Jarencio already issued an apology to PBA commissioner Willie Marcial. He also promised to say sorry to Robinson as soon as he returns from his vacation.
