World-rated super bantamweight Carl Jammes Martin battles Thai veteran Chaiwat Buatkrathok for the World Boxing Organization Global title on 18 December at the Elorde Sports Center in Parañaque.
Martin, ranked in the top 10 by the World Boxing Organization and the International Boxing Federation, is being groomed to make his United States debut in 2024 by American kingmaker Sean Gibbons, who heads MP Promotions.
Armed with a 22-0 record with 17 knockouts, Martin has to deal with Buatkrathok, who packs a 40-8 card with 26 knockouts.
Presented by JC Mananquil’s Zipman Boxing and Gibbons’ Knucklehead Promotions, the Martin-Buatkrathok showdown promises to be a slambang affair.
“Carl Jammes Martin is one of the Philippines’ brightest prospects for a world title and he will have his hands full against this Thai puncher,” Gibbons said.
Nicknamed “Wonder Boy,” Martin is rated No. 4 by the New Jersey-based IBF while the Puerto Rico-headquartered WBO lists the Filipino southpaw at No. 8.
