ABU DHABU, United Arab Emirates — Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines scored a four-under-par 68 late Friday to make the second round of the LIV Golf Promotions.
The Asian Tour Order of Merit No. 2, Tabuena is hoping to snag one of the three spots available for next year’s LIV Golf League.
But the 2023 DGC Open champ is facing an uphill battle in Saturday’s second round where 50 more players join the fray.
Only the top 20 players advance to Round 3 where the top three progress to the lucrative Tour.
After posting his first professional win a month ago on the PGA Tour of Australasia, Kerry Mountcastle earned invites to two of Australia’s biggest events. That eventually led to another playing opportunity — a spot in this week’s LIV Golf Promotions.
Now the New Zealand native is moving on the second round after posting the best score of the day, an 8-under 64 at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
