The Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines will launch its big bold drive to gather young talents nationwide when the Mindanao Open kickstarts its calendar next year.
Apo Golf and Country Club in Davao will host the meet on 3 to 5 January, while the Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club in Cagayan de Oro will serve as venue on 9 to 11 January.
Winners in the tourney get slots in the FCG Callaway Junior Championship slated in May in Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage in California.
The JGFP has had several tournaments in Mindanao this year apart from the regular tournaments in and around Metro Manila including the ongoing Interschool.
But this time, the talent-search further expands its scope with the two-leg Open.
“This is a good opportunity for us because at least two venues are hosting the meet, that shows the support of the Mindanao junior golf community,” JGFP president Oliver Gan.
The JGFP held Interschool Mindanao this year, whose winners — top team and top five individual — qualified for the national finals in February in Caliraya Springs.
The Interschool Luzon has yet to conclude with the finals of the Junior High School and Senior High School slated 27 to 28 January at Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club.
