What’s better than a perfectly timed assist from a five-time Major League Soccer team? That happening in currency form.
MLS club LA Galaxy donated $17,500 or roughly P977,000 to the Tuloy Foundation Incorporated in Muntinlupa City yesterday.
Six members of the five-time MLS champion visited the organization not only to hand the donation but also to conduct a training session with the football teams of Tuloy which was capped by an exhibition match.
Among those in attendance were Tuloy Foundation founder Fr. Rocky Evangelista, LA Galaxy sports coach Dr. Dana Ryan, Herbalife Nutrition Philippines corporate communications manager Marie Segismundo and along with defenders Jalen Neal and Mauricio Cuevas, midfielders Edwin Cerillo, Daniel Aguirre and Mark Delgado and forward Carson Klein.
Evangelista said the donation will used to improve the facilities for the benefit of its mission to help out the cause of poor, abandoned, homeless children with football as one of its ways of molding children and helping them reach their potential.
“Football here is a necessary activity to form the children’s character and they know that. Since they support the children, whatever activity into developing them, they will support that,” Evangelista said.
“They allow us to spend where we need it the most. It may be in nutrition, food, or anything we need. The donors do not look into the spending because they trust us so much. That is the trait of Tuloy.”
Neal, who is part of the US men’s national team, said he liked helping out the kids in Tuloy and one way for him to thank the people who helped him in his journey.
“The kids here have been lovely and so nice. I can tell they are truly good people at heart and hopefully, they are better soccer players,” Neal said.
