Hot prospect Carl Jammes Martin battles Thai veteran Chaiwat Buatkrathok today in a bid to ramp up his fast-approaching United States campaign.
During the official weighin, Martin came in a shade under the 122lb limit while Buatkrathok tipped in at 122 as the two expressed their readiness to provide fistic fireworks at the Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque.
Jointly presented by Sean Gibbons of MP Promotions and JC Mananquil’s SanMan Boxing, the Martin-Buatkrathok slugfest is expected to bring out the best in the two main event attractions.
Martin is being groomed for stardom by no less than Gibbons, who has lined up at least three fights in America before being given a world title shot in 2025.
Holding a 22-0 record with 17 knockouts, the heavy-handed southpaw from Ifugao will soon find in the company of a growing list of top-of-the-line Filipino punchers based in the US.
Among MP Promotions talents include Mark Magsayo, Jerwin Ancajas, Eumir Marcial, Jonas Sultan, Vincent Astrolabio and Marlon Tapales, who faces Naoya Inoue on 26 December for the undisputed world super-bantamweight title at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo.
