Two-time world champion Carlos Yulo is facing a busy schedule for next year as he prepares for the Paris Olympics.
The 23-year-old prized gymnast said he will compete in the 2024 FIG World Cup series and the 2024 Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championship in preparation for the Summer Games.
The Baku leg of the FIG World Cup will be from 7 to 10 March while the Doha leg will be from 17 to 20 April.
Meanwhile, the date and venue of the Asian Championships has yet to be announced.
“I will be joining the World Cup series in Baku and Doha and the Asian Championships. There’s one more competition but I’m not sure if I will be able to join there,” said Yulo, who is in the country to celebrate the holidays with his loved ones.
“The first three tournaments I mentioned, however, I’m sure that I will join them.”
Hopes are high on Yulo as he competes in his second Olympic stint together with Filipino-American rhythmic gymnast Aleah Finnegan.
Yulo, the pride of Leveriza, Manila, will have to sharpen himself before the biggest sporting event in the world after a poor showing in the 2023 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.
While he did qualify for the Summer Games, Yulo came up short after going home empty-handed in the World Championships.
The Gymnastics Association of the Philippines is also looking for a new foreign mentor for Yulo after parting ways with Japanese coach Munehiro Kugimiya.
