Played in several golf courses this year, and some of them stuck with me. Here are they.
Canlubang — Always my favorite course in the country, especially the South. It isn’t long and I would consider it as scorable (not easy). But when it comes to layout and enjoyment, this Canlubang South will always be my No. 1.
Sta. Elena — This club is always pristine and well-managed. Great course, staff and food. Tournaments at Elena are always a joy to join.
Valley South — Valley South eats up errant drives and mediocre approach shots. One of the more “feared” courses in the country, Valley South is always a nice gauge of where your game is. My one game this year at Valley South featured a forgettable front nine 7-over with my best back nine at Valley ever. I shot 80, which for me is a good outing at Valley.
Caliraya — Now that I spend most days in Laguna, Caliraya has become my unofficial home course. Stunning views and a very challenging layout. Laid back vibes and very friendly staff make Caliraya a great day out.
Tagaytay Midlands — While Highlands is my official home course, I almost exclusively play Midlands in Tagaytay. Unfortunately, I have only gone to Midlands once or twice this year. Too busy to play regularly. Midlands is always in good condition and is fair. Not too narrow, but you still need to be mindful to get a good round in. Carelessness around Midlands results in really bad rounds for me. I need to visit my home course soon and hopefully more often in 2024.
